So far your interview has been predictable, but then ……
Q: What is/are your weaknesse(s)?
A: You begin to talk about your personal weaknesses. – Do Not
Do This!
Advice:
Determine what your strengths are and talk about one in the
terms of being a ‘weakness’ which is NOT a weakness,
For example:
“I consider myself to be pretty bright and I often find
myself listening to a speaker on my team explaining a particular point. I often understand his
point quickly and override what he is saying to hear from someone else. In my desire to be more proactive as well as more
productive - and with the desire to
waste as little time as possible, I quickly cut the speaker off to move
on. I am conscious of trying not being
too curt, but I sometimes learn I had caused some irritation in the speaker. So
the balancing act of ‘perfect leadership’ tied to a rapid series of multi-level
communication responses is just that – a real balancing act.”
This response turns a weakness into something much less than
a weakness – and revealing your real weaknesses is not something you ought to
do.
I feel sure you can come up with an appropriate ‘ elevator
speech’ on the desired topic.
I hope this has helped – Good luck.
